Get To Know Our Partners | Hello Darling Films

We have partnered with a team of incredibly talented videographers to help you book one very important aspect of your wedding day! Another really exciting aspect of our partnership is that co-owner Jacob Durbin will be filming MKE Sound's owner's wedding in 2021! Having our day documented in this art form is one of the top 3 things we're most excited for about our day!

We got to talk to Jacob to learn a little bit more about his experience with wedding films, and how important it is to consider having a videographer for your big day!

Why do you think couples should consider fitting a Videographer into their budget and vendor list when planning their wedding day?

"Wedding videography is an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL! A wedding film truly has the power to capture the emotions, feel, and love of your wedding day in a unique way. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event and a day that you will want to remember forever. I have never had a couple that regretted their decision to hire a wedding videographer. A wedding film is a timeless piece of work that can be watched and shared for years to come!"

What got you interested in joining the wedding industry? How did you decide to get into video production?

"I initially got into filming weddings when I was in high school. As a beginner filmmaker, I was able to connect with some professionals in the industry and began as a second shooter for weddings. Pretty quickly, I discovered that I absolutely loved it! As I have gotten older, I have continued to advance in my skills & passions and now shoot over 30 weddings every season. My love for weddings has only grown and continues to bring me joy every day. What really keeps me excited is the couples I get to meet and it is so awesome to be a part of such a special time in their lives!"

What makes your services unique compared to other options out there? What's your style / process / what puts you above the competition?

"With my wedding films, I am really focused on the story. Rather than just making a film about how cool the wedding was, I implement lots of different content from the ceremony, speeches, etc. to tell the story of your love. In my mind, the wedding is the tip of the iceberg but everything that led up to the day is also important! I try to work in speaking parts that talk about how they met, what they enjoy doing, good advice, etc. to create a film that perfectly fits the couple and really captures the essence of their love.

Visually, my style tends to be very epic, unstaged, and emotional. I have had plenty of experience as a cinematographer on music videos, short films, and passion projects and I always use that artistic eye to create unique visuals in my wedding films."

What is one of the most important parts in the video process in your opinion?

"The most important parts of the wedding film process to me is the filming and editing. Through filming countless weddings, I have discovered a lot of the secrets to creating stunning visuals while also making sure not to miss a moment. The wedding day tends to be very fast paced and I am always on my toes to be prepared and maximize the time. Editing is also vital to the wedding film process. The storytelling through editing is so important to making a wedding film that really stands out!"

Any advice / topics / facts we may have missed?

It is very important to communicate and get to know your wedding videographer before the wedding day! For many of the couples I film, this is their first time in front of the camera and I want to make sure they are comfortable. I always meet or FaceTime with all my clients before the wedding to get to know them so I am not just some random guy showing up with a camera on their special day. Communication is key and it is something that I value highly!

What are your favorite parts of a wedding when attending? When filming?

"My favorite part of the wedding day when attending is the party! The energy is high and it is awesome to celebrate with the newly married couple. When shooting the wedding, I absolutely love first looks and vows. These tend to be very emotional and I love to capture these special moments."

"Most memorable wedding you've been to and why?

I had the opportunity to travel out to Tahiti for a wedding last March. This was a destination wedding with a very adventurous couple and we were able to capture some amazing content! We traveled into the jungle to get footage under a waterfall and that was something I will never forget."

What are your go to artists / songs?

"In general, I enjoy listening to alternative pop music. My favorite artists are The 1975, LANY, and Thomston (all of which I have seen in concert many times haha). At wedding receptions, Uptown Funk has always been a favorite! It's such a well known song and a great song to dance to!"

Any memorable concerts that you've attended?

"The 1975 is my favorite band, but also an amazing live act! Their stage presence, set design, and overall sound is incredible. One time, I was able to get front row for their show and it was one of the greatest moments of my life!

Favorite hobbies / pastimes?

"In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and traveling. In 2019, I had the opportunity to travel to at least 1 new place very month. I love to visit new places and experience life in their culture."

Fun Fact that most people probably don't know about you?

"After high school, I spent one year studying abroad in Sydney, Australia! The city was my favorite place on earth and I wish I could have stayed forever!"
